Trade Scan Results

Running a scan involves four steps:

  • Select an existing Scan,
  • Select a Symbol, Quote List, Scan Result or Market to run the scan on,
  • Confirm, or Edit, existing scan Trade Parameters and Option Leg Filters,
  • Run the Scan

After a successful scan, the result will display a table in the Search Results screen.

You can scroll through the results and sort the results based on the headings.

Search Results

Each trade consists of a combination of options grouped to meet the strategies, parameters and filters set previously.

The Construction field shows the full details of each option trade. You can widen this column to display the full details.

Sort Results

You can sort the results by any of the data fields included in the table by simply clicking on the heading that you wish to sort by. Click once on the heading once to sort in ascending order, and click a second time to sort in descending order. An upward or downward pointing triangle will indicate whether the sort is ascending or descending.

Views

You can change the display by clicking on the Default View drop down and select the view you want.

Users can create there own custom views and then apply them to the table by selecting them in the drop down menu.

Trade Analysis Link

To undertake further analysis on a trade identified by the scan, click on the item in the table and then click on the Trade Analysis button on the function bar.

This will open the Option Analysis chart.

The pop-up menu also has a Trade Analysis command. Right mouse click on a result to open the pop-up menu.

Save Scan Results

Save the scan results by clicking the Save Scan Results command in the Action menu.

The Save Scan Results As... dialog will open.

Save the results as a Trade Scan Results file with the .tsr file extension.

Buy

Use this command to directly Buy the selected scan result through an OptionsXPress trading account.

Note : If multiple strategies have been selected, the Buy command will selected the last strategy to trade. Thus, it is recommended that users only select the single scan result strategy they wish to trade before invoking the Buy command.

The screen above shows multiple scan results have been selected when the Buy command is invoked. The software will always select the last result in the list to send to the Order Entry ticket.

Sell

Use this command to directly Sell the selected scan result through an OptionsXPress trading account.

Note : If multiple strategies have been selected, the Sell command will selected the last strategy to trade. Thus, it is recommended that users only select the single scan result strategy they wish to trade before invoking the Sell command.

About this Scan

Select the About this Scan tab and type in your description of the scan on to the blank page.

For example, you may enter your reasons for the strategy you have taken, or enter the source of your assumptions.
