Action Menu

The Action menu in the Quote Page's Function Bar contains all of the tools required to manage and interact with the Quotes on the lists.

Main Action Menu

The main Action menu drops down when you click the down arrow to the right of Action in the function bar:

When an individual quote is also selected, as for HPQ (Hewlett-Packard) in the example, the sub-menu will also display.

If an individual quote is not selected, the sub-menu option will be disabled.

See Actions for "Symbol" Sub-Menu section (below) for more information on the sub-menu.

Save

Once you have added the instruments and groups and customized the data fields that you require for your quote list, click on the Save button on the function bar's Action menu to save the quote list.

Save As...

You can edit the quote list at any time, by adding or removing instrument and groups or adjusting the data fields. Then you can make a copy of the amended list by using the Save As… function in the Action menu.

A dialog box to enter the new name and description will open.

Enter the details and click OK to save as a new Quote Page. It will appear in the Select Quote List the next time you access it.

Data on Demand

Select the Data On Demand command in the Action Menu, the Regular DoD command will appear in a submenu:

quotpag_actmnudod.gif

This command will refresh the quote page with a “snap-shot” of the most recent data. This option provides a more thorough update, which will include a complete refresh of historical data for each symbol.

The Data On Demand Refresh command in the Action Menu has exactly the same effect as clicking the Refresh button butn_go-off.gif in the Quote Page's function bar.

Advanced Data on Demand

The DoD Go button will only refresh the quote page with a “snap-shot” of the most recent data. This option provides a more thorough update, which will include a complete refresh of historical data for each symbol. The amount of data downloaded depends on the Remote Data settings in the Application Settings dialog.

The changes to your underlying data will not display on the Quote Page, however this tool is useful to update large numbers of symbols for purposes of viewing their price charts, off-line scanning, etc.

For more information go to the Advanced Data on Demand help topic.

Print

Click to open the printer dialog box.

Import and Export...

An effective and efficient way of populating Quote Lists, particularly for those users migrating from third party software such as Advanced GET™, is to use the Symbol Import Wizard.

Three actions are available in the wizard. The wizard can import text files (.txt) containing symbols, or the symbols in a Quotes List Page can be exported as a text file (.txt), or the symbols and all data specified by the current view can be exported in a Comma-Separated Values file (.csv) for display in a spreadsheet.

Click the Import and Export... command to open the Import/Export Wizard.

For more information go to the Symbols Import Export Wizard help topic.

Configure View...

The data displayed in the columns of your Quote Pages can be altered, and more than one display style can be saved and later applied using the View drop-down menu of the Function Bar.

Click on this command to display the Configure View dialog box.

For more information on this important configuration tool, as well as how to apply user defined configurations, go to the Create Custom View section of the Quote List Display - Custom Views help topic.
