File Selector Dialog Box

File Selector Dialog Box

Your SOFTWARE has a number of functions in which objects created by users are saved as individual files.

Each function creates a different type of file and each file type has its own unique file extension. For example, price charts are saved as .hcp files and quote lists are saved as .hql files. See the complete list of Your SOFTWARE file extensions, below.

Your SOFTWARE uses standard Windows file management methodology to save, open and organize the different files.

Each function will save a file with its appropriate file extension, in either the default folder for that file type or at a location specified by the user.

When files are opened from within Your SOFTWARE's functions, a File Selector Dialog Box for the function's file type will open. It will initially Look in the default folder and display only Files of type that can be opened in the current function.

Users can navigate to other folders if the file they want to open is not located in the default folder.

Chart Page Example

The Open Chart Page dialog box uses standard Windows file methodology to open saved Chart Pages (file extension *.hcp) as well as Split Screen Chart Pages (file extension *.hcs).

Default Folder

The Open Chart Page dialog will first Look in the default folder for files of this type.

When .hcp or .hcs files are saved, they will be saved in this folder by default.

Large numbers of files can accumulate in the default folder. To view a greater number of files at the same time, resize the dialog box by dragging the bottom left corner, the cursor will become a two headed arrow. Alternatively, navigate through the files using the scroll bar.

Alternative Locations

chartopendilgbutns_ps36.gifWindows files can be saved in any folder or directory and users can use the navigation tools to go to other folders to find a particular file.

Drop-down the View Menu and select a new display style for the files and folders.

Saved charts can be organized using the Create New Folder function and then saved charts can be dragged into the new folders.

Navigate through the folders using the Up One Level button, the Go To Last Folder Visited button and the drop down View Tree viewer/selector.
