Common Function Bar

The following table contains some of the common tools found on the Function Bar:


Refresh Data


Refresh the data with the latest market information.

Select Symbol

Enter the security code that you wish to use for the feature.







When a symbol is recognized, its name will appear in the Description text box, see below.

If the symbol is not recognized the Description text box will display [Click to Search].

If multiple occurrences of the symbol detected, the Description text box will display Multiple Occurrence of Symbol.

Refer to the Description text box's section, below, for more information.

For most features, this is the underlying security, however for the option graphs and calculators, you need to enter the code for the option that you wish to view. Once a suitable code has been entered, the description of the security or option will appear beside the select field.


Drop down the list of exchanges.



Your SOFTWARE will usually open the exchange automatically.

However, in cases where the same symbol is used by more than one exchange, Your SOFTWARE will open the exchange for which you last opened the symbol. If this is incorrect use the exchange drop-down menu to select the correct exchange. Your SOFTWARE will accept this as the new default exchange for that symbol.

This text box displays the full name of the security. This will normally be the legal name of the company. For derivatives the exchange's description will usually be displayed.

If there is no symbol in the Select Symbol text box, this box will display [Click to Search].

Click this text to open the Symbol Search function.

If multiple occurrences of the symbol detected, the Description text box will display Multiple Occurrence of Symbol.

Click this text to open the Multiple Occurrence of Symbol function.


Select the trading interval to be displayed.


There are five to choose between: Daily, Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly.





Users with a real-tine or streaming data will also be able to display intra-day intervals.





Select the Trading Interval to be plotted and displayed. This is also referred to as "Compression" by some traders.

There are a number to choose between, select one and the chart, together with its current indicators, Hi-Lites and drawing tools,  will be re-plotted for the selected interval.


Daily is the default interval.

You can change the default interval by creating a new default template, applying the weekly interval and saving as the new default. See the Chart Template and Save as Default topics for more information.

Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly

These intervals are available to most Software users. The HUBB data service supports all of these intervals.

Tick, by Minute, Hourly

When users subscribe to a real-time data feed, charts can be plotted using the tick data at a number of different interval.

The real-time data feed, also known as streaming data, is used in conjunction with the streaming data button, see below.



Access additional features for the function or workpage that you are currently using. In most cases, you can access the Action menu by right mouse clicking on the main feature pane.

Each Software feature has a different Action menu.

The contents of Action menus can vary considerably.

Separate help topics have been provided for the different Action menus.

Refer to the individual topics for details on the exact contents of the menus and sub-menus.





Stream Data


Stream live data - this feature will only work if you are subscribed to a real-time data feed.

When available, streaming data can be used to plot intra-day charts in tick, minute and hourly intervals, see previous discussion, above.




Save the current scan, quote list, analysis or price chart.

When a previously saved object is initially opened, the save button will be disabled until changes are made which can be saved.

The button will then become enabled and remain enabled until the object is saved.

Cross Hairs


Use the cross hairs to identify precise locations on the chart.

As the mouse moves over the chart, the date and price for the exact center of the cross hairs will be displayed in small boxes on each axis line of the cross hairs.

Data Window

The data window is a small floating window that displays the base symbol's price data,

Click the zoom feature and then select an area which you want to zoom in to. To reverse the zoom-in, click the Reset Chart Scales button on the Action menu or chart pop-up menu..

Full Screen


Click on full screen to have the work area expand to full screen.

Click Close in the top, right-hand corner to return to the previous size window.



There a large number of tools available in Your SOFTWARE to mark, track, highlight and annotate charts.

There are a large number of indicators available in Your Software to analyze and display securities data in a number of different ways.

Go to the Indicators help topic section for details on all available tools.



The data for some features is displayed in tables.

Often Your SOFTWARE will allow you to define and apply a custom View to the table. Choose a customized view that you have configured from this drop down list. Refer to the Custom Views topic for more information.





Open the Option Model dialog box. Use this feature to adjust the option pricing model.

Use Hi-Lites to identify and market specific points of price and trend changes on your charts.

Walk Through


Enables you to walk through the chart from a selected point, one day at a time.




Apply a filter to the option selection process. Click on the drop-own arrow to access a list of available filters or click on the button to create a new filter or adjust existing filters.

PC Button


The PC button opens the Entry Point pre-computed scans menu.

Nav Button


Tree Toggle to display/hide the Navigation Bar.

The Navigation Bar allows you to locate and add securities to your quote list or chart.





Single left-mouse click on the Headline to view it in the News Article window of the News workpage.

The work page also includes a list of other Breaking News and a Search News facility containing search and news filter tools.
