Overview

The Advanced Symbols Maintenance Wizard is used for comprehensive maintenance of the symbols database within Your SOFTWARE. Most of the selections in the Advanced mode will result in the deletion of the currently downloaded symbols data and their replacement with new symbols data.

Running Advanced Symbols Maintenance Wizard

In Your SOFTWARE click on Tools located  at the top menus.

Select the check-boxes for the maintenance functions you want performed.

The functions will be performed only for the Markets selected in the Symbols to Download page. If less markets are selected than are currently on the PC, the symbols for those markets will be removed.

Note - The default for all the settings is Off (un-checked). Users must select the settings each time they want to do a new Advanced Symbols Update.

Refresh All Symbols

Checking this option will first remove (delete) all Symbols from your system data database, and then insert all symbols from the markets currently selected in the previous dialog.

Refresh All Option Symbols

Checking this option will first remove (delete) all options Symbols from your system data database, and then insert all option symbols from the markets currently selected in the previous dialog.

While this process can be performed on its own, selecting Refresh all Symbols will disable this option as the first step in the Refresh All Symbols process will be the removal of all expired symbols including Option symbols.

Remove All Expired Symbols

This will clean up your current local symbols database and remove all expired symbols.

While this process can be performed on its own, selecting Refresh all Symbols will disable this option as the first step in the Refresh All Symbols process will be the removal of all expired symbols.

Update Metastock Descriptions

Check this option if you are maintaining a database for use with third-party software and want to maintain the MetaStock descriptions when you run the Symbol Maintenance Wizard.

Selecting this option lets you automatically update the descriptions or names of securities within the MetaStock database. Any changes to stock names, stock splits or mergers will be automatically updated to the MetaStock database as well as the HUBB database.

This process can be performed on its own or at the same time as the other processes.

Update Futures Root Symbols

This will update the Futures Root information.

It will be turned on by default when you select Refresh All Symbols (above), but may also be run alone.

To refresh your entire database, check the Refresh all Symbols checkbox and then click the Next button.
